THE TRANSFOSTORY
IN THE NEWS
Transfodesign is a creative studio that follows two main principles in its operation:
-
create design through transformation (residues, obsolete objects, natural elements, construction debris) and;
-
transform through design (people, work spaces, lifestyles, conscience, policies, societies, urban settlements).
Everyone at Transfodesign is guided by the belief that everything can be given a second life by transformation. To us, design is a problem solving tool. We seek for the application of upcycling, creative reuse and circular economy in architecture, interior design, landscape design, urban interventions, production etc.
From 2010 we started our workshops on creative reuse of materials and waste, and so far had the pleasure to cooperate with WWF Hellas, La Fundació Formació i Treball, Desigual, Heineken Spain, IKEA Badalona, Wella, Robert H. Smith School of Business, BAU Centro Universitario de Diseño de Barcelona, Escola Massana, ELISAVA Escola Superior de Disseny i Enginyeria de Barcelona, MakeaTuVida, DrapArt, Casal de Joves Calassanç, Estudio SEED and Impact Hub Athens among others.
In 2011 we started our initiative that promotes design with reuse and upcycling, Trash Investigation Series. This is an biennial event, traditionally part of Barcelona Design Festival. Up to date we have organized four events: Trashkitchens in 2011, Trashcars in 2012, Trashboarding in 2013 and Trash Pop-Up in 2017.
Our efforts to introduce environmental awareness in the society do not end here. In 2015 we opened the first Center for Trash Investigation in the world, TransfoLAB BCN! A 300m2 space dedicated to design, innovation, creation and experimentation with waste!
We are continuously looking for customers and partners that will join us in our mission for greener architecture and design.
